On May 23 of this year, a scientific and practical seminar was held on issues of cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Institute of Diplomatic Studies named after Prince Saud Al-Faisal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The event was attended by a delegation from the Institute of Diplomatic Studies of Saudi Arabia, headed by the Director General of the Institute Dr. A. Al Omrani, representatives of the KSA Embassy in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, employees of the Diplomatic Academy at UWED, faculty and students of UWED.

 

During the seminar, a discussion of promising joint educational and scientific projects took place. Particular attention was paid to the issues of training and advanced training of diplomats. The possibilities of organizing Arabic language courses for students, conducting joint research on issues of common interest, and exchanging scientific publications were considered.

 

Along with this, issues of bilateral Uzbek-Saudi relations, in particular trade, economic and investment cooperation, were considered. The growing volume of Saudi Arabian investments in the economy of Uzbekistan has been noted, which is currently estimated at more than $30 billion.

 

In his concluding remarks, Dr. A. Al Omrani noted the high interest in partnership with Uzbek colleagues. “Our countries have a rich history of cooperation, and such contacts contribute not only to the exchange of knowledge, but also to the strengthening of friendly ties. We are pleased to have the opportunity to discuss current issues and prospects for joint projects,” he said.
