On October 21, 2024, an international round table on the topic "From Poverty to Prosperity" was organized in the Renaissance Hall complex in Tashkent as part of the International Cooperation Initiative Week. The event was attended by foreign partners, including experts, representatives of international and regional organizations, as well as civil society institutions, the UWED Diplomatic Academy.
Current efforts to combat poverty and potential future strategies were considered during the round table. As mentioned, one of the nation's policy focuses since 2020 has been the fight against poverty.
A methodology for Uzbekistan has been developed, and a practice for calculating minimum consumption costs to determine the level of poverty has been introduced, according to the speakers, who also mentioned that the standards of the "Multidimensional Poverty Index" and international experience have been studied this year.
Representatives of international organizations who spoke at the meeting said that the international community recognized Uzbekistan's effective fight against poverty and expressed its readiness to further increase cooperation with it in this direction.
This conference created a new platform for exchanging experiences with foreign experts. In addition, practical proposals and recommendations were presented, which in the future will become a new step in reducing poverty on a global scale.
