Following the talks held in Ljubljana, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Robert Golob signed a Joint Statement.

A ceremony of exchanging bilateral agreements took place in their presence:

– on exemption of holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements;

– on cooperation in education, science and culture;

– on cooperation in transport and logistics;

– on cooperation in the management of smart cities;

– on cooperation in standardization;

– on cooperation in water resources management;

– on cooperation in tourism.

From May 11 to 15 of this year, a training course for young diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman was organized at the Diplomatic Academy of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED).

Lectures on the history, political, and economic activities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as international relations in Central Asia, were delivered by academics from the Diplomatic Academy and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. Sheikh Ahmed Hashil Rashid Al Maskari, Head of the Department of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, gave a lecture on the foreign policy of the Sultanate of Oman on the final day of the training course for young diplomats of the Sultanate of Oman. A round table was also held on the prospects of Uzbek-Omani relations.

On May 15, in solemnly atmosphere, the students were awarded certificates of completion of the training course, where the final speeches were made by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Rector of UWED S.Safoev, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, B. Aloev, the Director of the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED, A. Khaydarov, the Ambassador of the Sultan of Oman to the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Wafa Jabr Nasser al-Busaidi and the Head of the GCC Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed Hashil Rashid al Maskari.

The aforementioned course's arrangement and content were greatly welcomed and commended by the students, who also emphasized the significance of such courses in fostering the growth of bilateral relations.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent condolences to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the numerous human casualties and injuries resulting from a terrorist attack in the Kashmir region.

The head of state expressed his sincere sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims, to the entire people of India, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

In the town of Pahalgam in the Kashmir region in northern India, unidentified assailants opened fire on tourists who were walking along a trail in the Baisaran Valley.

At least 28 people, including foreign tourists, were killed in the shooting, and around 30 others were injured.

An overview article about the book titled “Perspectives of Uzbekistan and India on Connectivity between South and Central Asia”, published in October 2024 by the Diplomatic Academy in cooperation with the India-Central Asia Foundation, was printed in the Indian newspaper Veer Arjun. The book is published in English, Uzbek, and Russian.

The article highlights its relevance and demand. In particular, the author of the article, Professor Hem Chandra Pandey from Jawaharlal Nehru University, emphasizes:

"We see that the rapidly changing current situation in Central Asia is naturally attracting the attention of experts. Against this background, the assessment of the current state of various aspects of economic, trade, cultural, and diplomatic relations between India and Uzbekistan, presented by Indian and Uzbek experts in this book, is undoubtedly highly relevant."

On April 23, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a meeting between Sodyq Safaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Rector of UWED, and a delegation from the Indian educational organization “MERI Group of Institutions,” headed by Vice President, Professor Lalit Aggarwal.

During the meeting, a Memorandum and an Agreement of Cooperation were signed, and the academic curriculum for the upcoming academic year was approved. An article about this agreement was published in the Indian newspaper “The Pioneer”.

From April 14 to April 25, 2025, at the Diplomatic academy at the UWED for employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan was organized a short-term advanced training and retraining course.

Leading experts from the Republic and UWED were invited to the diplomatic retraining process. In the educational process, course participants acquire theoretical and practical skills in such areas as the basics of diplomatic protocol and etiquette, the theory and practice of conducting business correspondence, the organization of diplomatic receptions, negotiations, as well as the methodology for preparing Protocol event programs on official visits at various levels.

On April 25, 2025, all attendees, who successfully completed the course were awarded certificates of completion of short-term courses of the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The agreements create new opportunities to enhance the quality of education for students of the Diplomatic Academy, engage top specialists from leading Indian institutions, and promote the exchange of academic knowledge and access to MERI’s educational resources.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to further strengthening the partnership and expanding mutually beneficial collaboration.

On 17 April 2025, at the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED, Building B at 12am in Room 210, there will be an online lecture on “Geopolitical interests of the USA, China and Russia in Central Asia” by representatives of SIOI, Italy.
