On March 28, 2025, Mr. Oliver Stolpe, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan gave a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED on the topic: “Key challenges facing Central Asia in the areas of drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism and UNODC ongoing programme portfolio in support of Government`s efforts to address these challenges”.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening the rule of law and international cooperation in the fight against organized crime.

The meeting was attended by the faculty and postgraduate students of the Diplomatic Academy’s, as well as students and doctoral students of UWED. The lecture aroused wide interest and active discussion among the audience, which confirms the relevance of the topics raised and the need for further cooperation in the field of regional security.

On March 28, 2025 at 11:00 a meeting with the head of the regional office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) O.Stolpe will be held at the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED.

During the meeting, the head of the regional office will make a presentation on the topic “Key challenges facing Central Asia in the areas of drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism and UNODC ongoing programme portfolio in support of Government`s efforts to address these challenges”.

The Diplomatic Academy at the UWED hosted an online meeting with representatives of the Italian Society of International Relations (SIOI)
On March 25, 2025, the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED hosted the first joint online meeting with representatives of the Italian Society of International Relations (SIOI), which was attended by the faculty and postgraduate students of the Diplomatic Academy as well as the UWED students and doctoral students. The Italian side was represented by Ambassador Maurizio Menni, Prof. Giulio Pecora and the SIOI staff.
During the presentation, SIOI representatives emphasized Italy's involvement in EU initiatives. Additionally, it was mentioned that Italy enjoys cordial relations with the Central Asian countries and is presently collaborating with them to develop renewable energy sources.
In addition, new diplomats received guidance from Italian officials on how to present the country. According to SIOI experts, Uzbekistan is an intriguing nation from a historical perspective. It was suggested to aggressively use the media as a tool that molds public perception about a certain country in order to boost the country's recognition. The significance of regional and international collaboration between Italy and Uzbekistan was again underlined by SIOI representatives.
I. Fayzullaev, dean of the Diplomatic Academy's Faculty of Retraining and Advanced Training of Diplomatic Personnel, spoke about the Republic of Uzbekistan's revised foreign policy, highlighting the country's willingness and openness to international collaboration.

On 25 March 2025, at the Diplomatic Academy at the UWED, Building B at 3pm in Room 210, there will be an online lecture on “Italy and Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy – Bringing effects Together” by representatives of SIOI, Italy.

At the invitation of President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to this country on March 11-13.

The agenda of the visit to Paris envisages talks and events at the highest level, as well as a number of meetings with official and business circles of France.

The agenda of the upcoming contacts includes issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-French multifaceted relations.

Priority attention will be given to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade-economic and investment-financial spheres, promoting cooperation projects with leading companies and enterprises of France.

It is planned to adopt a package of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements as a result of the summit.

In addition, the Head of our state will meet with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to discuss practical aspects of preparing and holding the 43rd session of the Organization's General Conference in Samarkand this autumn.

It is worth noting the intense program of events on the eve of the forthcoming visit.
